Undertow

A small coastal-town mystery with almost no physical action at all — the lowest genga count of anything in our catalogue, and on purpose. Most cuts run on threes, deliberately, with the held frames doing narrative work: a character staring at the same middle distance for a beat longer than is comfortable is the show’s entire visual grammar for “lying”.

The one sustained on-ones sequence in the whole series is 40 seconds long and contains no dialogue and no camera cuts: a net being pulled in, in real time, because the director wanted the audience to feel exactly how long that actually takes.
